Amazon’s Sept 16 FBA Inbound Clock Is the Real Big Deal Days Deadline

Amazon’s last open inbound lane for Prime Big Deal Days closes tomorrow.

If you selected Amazon-optimized shipment splits on your FBA shipping plans (Amazon says most sellers pick this option), inventory has to arrive at Amazon’s facilities by September 16, 2026 to keep Prime-badge eligibility for the event. AWD shipments were due September 2. Minimal-splits FBA was due September 9. Deal submissions for Big Deal Days already closed September 8. It is in Amazon’s Seller Central holiday post: “Holiday 2026: Same fees, same eligibility, earlier deadlines.”

Arrive means received into Amazon’s network. Not “left the factory.” Not “on a truck somewhere in California.” If the units are not in, you can still sell into the event window, but you risk losing the Prime badge Amazon tied to these receive-by dates.

What happened (dated)

Amazon published the Holiday 2026 inbound schedule on Seller Central in early July. CoreTrex’s September 11 write-up reminded sellers the easy lanes were already closed and the optimized-splits receive-by was five days out. As of September 15, that clock is one day out.

Same Seller Central post also set the next block:

  • October 14: AWD for Black Friday Week / Cyber Monday
  • October 21: FBA minimal shipment splits
  • October 28: FBA Amazon-optimized shipment splits (again, what most sellers select)

Holiday peak fulfillment fees still run October 15, 2026 through January 14, 2027, averaging about $0.32 more per unit over non-peak, with the existing 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge on top. Fees held flat versus last year’s holiday structure. The inbound calendar did not — earlier deadlines are the binding constraint.

One verified gap: Amazon has not named the exact 2026 Prime Big Deal Days dates in that post — only that the event returns at the same time as last year. Plan to the inbound clock, not to a rumor about which Tuesday in October it lands.

What it means for a growing brand

If you are past DIY garage fulfillment and into real FBA volume, this week is less about “did we miss Big Deal Days” and more about whether your inbound process can survive the next six weeks.

  1. Optimized splits buy you a later deadline — and more prep work. Amazon-optimized routing spreads cartons across multiple fulfillment centers. That is why you get until September 16 (and October 28 for the November block). It also means more shipping plans, more labels, more carton discipline, and a partner who can execute multi-destination prep without guessing.
  1. A late truck with a rejected shipment is a missed badge. Carton compliance, appointments, and tracking that still clears receiving matter more than a spreadsheet of “units in transit.”
  1. Missed inventory still has a home — and a cost. Units stuck in limbo, or sitting in FBA as slow movers while peak fees stack up, are a different problem than a one-day receive-by. Removals, rework, and West Coast staging stop you from paying Amazon to babysit inventory that will not convert.
  1. Black Friday inbound starts now. AWD’s October 14 receive-by is about four weeks out. If freight ETAs, port pickup, Palmdale staging, FNSKU work, and multi-FC splits are not on one calendar, you will feel September 16 again in late October.

We do not have a warehouse at the Ports of LA or Long Beach. We do run inbound from Southern California and can pick up freight from the ports when that is the right move. The useful question is whether your units need Amazon tomorrow, a West Coast floor this month, or both.

What to do

  1. Open every FBA shipping plan still tagged for Big Deal Days. Confirm the split option. If it is Amazon-optimized, September 16 is the receive-by. If it is already late, protect ads only on ASINs that will stay Prime-eligible, or accept the miss.
  1. Rank ASINs by recent GMV and Buy Box reality. Spend the last hours of runway on units that actually convert — not the long tail.
  1. Build the Black Friday / Cyber Monday inbound board this week. Put October 14 (AWD), October 21 (minimal splits), and October 28 (optimized splits) next to freight ETAs, prep lead time, and who owns cartonization. If you need multi-FC Amazon FBA prep out of Southern California, line that up before the queue fills.
  1. Separate “must stay in FBA for Prime” from “should leave Amazon.” Dead or slow units that will not earn the event badge are often better as a removal to Palmdale — count, store, relabel, prep back, or fulfill DTC — than as another month of peak storage. See Amazon removals if that is the real problem.

At ShipDepot in Palmdale we help brands that need FBA prep, removals/returns/rework, and California fulfillment without the “we’re at the ports” line. If your September 16 plan is already rolling, use tomorrow as a dress rehearsal for October. If not, the useful call is about Black Friday inbound and what to pull off Amazon before peak fees do more damage than the event can recover.
